A new idea is unfolding at Christ the King called Christian Life Groups. This idea is being launched this month as we begin our all church book study: If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat. A famous scientist once said that the best way to launch an idea is to wrap it in a person. Perhaps it is better to toss it out of a boat.
Grace is one of God’s greatest ideas. When Jesus was born to us in human flesh; walked among us; experienced all the trials and opportunities of human existence; and died and rose again to show us that God’s ultimate idea is to bring his children home as forgiven, redeemed children of God, grace became a very real and available idea. It was wrapped in the person of Jesus, and carried forth in a small group of human friends. Grace is multiplied when experienced in relationships; in other words, friends being friends in the name of the greatest friend of all, Jesus Christ. Christian Life Groups are just that – grace to and for one another wrapped up in a small group of people who commit to come together for intentional Biblically based study, prayer, fellowship and service.
Yes, I know that lives are busy. Schedules are crazy. But think about how grace-filled life can be when we make time for friendship that is shaped around our hunger for God’s love and an understanding of His truth.
I encourage you to prayerfully consider expanding your relationships to include a Christian Life Group here at Christ the King for five weeks. Five weeks of gathering around a cup of coffee at a Caribou; in a living room; here at church or even after a workout at a gym could truly change your life and give you just what you need most right now, God’s grace wrapped in a small group of friends.
