For Whom The Bell Tolls

The Prayer of the Day for All Saints Sunday reads: Almighty God, you have knit your people together in one communion in the mystical body of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Grant us grace to follow your blessed saints in lives of faith and commitment, and to know the inexpressible joys you have prepared for those who love you…

The one communion in the mystical body of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, is the church.  This mystical body is comprised of all the saints (believers) from all times and places.  On All Saints, we give thanks for all those who have gone before us and have passed the faith on to us.  We also give thanks for those saints who stand beside us now as we do God’s work in the world.  Christ the King is celebrating 50 Years in God’s Hands – As God’s Hands.  We give thanks for and celebrate the ministry of all those who have made CtK the strong and vital congregation we enjoy today.  Our 2012 stewardship campaign calls us to Move Forward into the Next 50 Years.

Spend some time this week thinking about those saints who have passed the faith on to you.  Give thanks to God for them.  Then spend some time thinking and praying about the contributions of time, talent and money that you will make in the coming year which will help Christ the King Move Forward into the Next 50 Years.  Is God calling you to “step up” in your giving so that Christ the King can move forward more effectively?

In Christ,

Pastor Paul

A very thought-provoking passage - thank you. I noticed a list of 12 Christ the King members who have died since the last All Saints Day. Do we know how many of our group of believers have died during the first 50 years of our congregation? I'm sure that the list includes many who have led our current members in their faith journeys. Just wondering... Judy Hill
