Do Something

In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus is asked the question, “What is the greatest commandment?” He answered, “Love God with all of your heart, all of your soul, and all of your mind. And the second is like it. ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”

These words set the stage for our annual youth musical. Last weekend more than 50 youth and adults traveled with their original youth musical to Bellevue, Nebraska with one goal: to tell others about God’s love and to encourage them to do something about it.

The story and music of the musical focus on the gifts of love we have from God and from each other, and most importantly, for one another. It calls us to see opportunities in each day, in every moment (even the difficult ones), to love God, love people, and do something about it.

Admittedly, it’s not always easy. In fact, many times it is quite difficult. When faced with conflict and uncertainty, our hearts race, our emotions burst, and our souls ache.

And yet, there is hope. God is there. We are there. God’s abundant, unconditional love is with us, as are the many people in this church community, and beyond, who are there with you, praying for you, caring for you, and encouraging you.

This is the good news! We are never abandoned. We have Christ—God’s outpouring of love for the world. No matter what we face, we are beloved, forgiven, and cherished. This is the greatest gift.

So, why keep it to yourself? Why not take a cue from our youth who aren’t afraid to speak their faith? Why not do something with this life-changing promise?

Join us this weekend as we welcome our youth to Christ the King to share this message. They will lead worship at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.(note the special time for the second service on this special day) and at 6:00 p.m.

Thank you, Christ the King, for your support of our youth and this important ministry. As you listen to them this weekend and wonder how you can do something, know you have empowered these young people with the gift.

With Joy,

Pastor Hannah
