Not going out of town for the holiday weekend? We have a special treat in store for you on Sunday, May 24! Dr. Mark and Linda Jacobson, Christ the King’s medical missionaries in Arusha, northern Tanzania, will be our guest speakers at both worship services. They are excellent, inspirational speakers, and we know that you will enjoy their stories from 30 years of mission work.
Dr. Mark Jacobson, a native of Stillwater, MN, has led the building of Selian Clinic and later Arusha Lutheran Medical Center, a modern full-service hospital where he serves as the director. His most recent projects are the Plaster House, a rehabilitation place for children after orthopedic surgery, and Arusha Lutheran Nursing College, preparing young Tanzanians for careers in medicine. Linda Jacobson has served in each of these projects and is a community activist, focusing on ways to address domestic violence. Their three adult daughters grew up in Arusha.
Pastor Peter and Sarah Grow-Hanson met the Jacobsons in Arusha over 20 years ago. He notes, “They have long been leaders, mentors, and role models within the ELCA Missionary community.”
