In my constant dialogue with God, I repeatedly ask for the vision to notice and the strength to follow where Christ is leading me. I find comfort in how God has led me to where I stand now.
I trust in God’s persistent presence in my life. In spite of what I know I should trust based on God making good on God’s promises, I still need reminders and even nudges on this path of faith I’m stumbling upon, especially when doubt seeps in.
Lent is the next season in our church year which begins on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 10 and continues all the way until Easter Sunday, March 27. This season, worship at Christ the King gives us time to pause on our individual paths, grateful for where we are and how we got here, and encouraged by our neighbors in the pew to keep going, as we pray together, “Christ, show us the way!”
This Lent, we are blessed to experience worship that is framed for us to fully participate and engage in the stories of Jesus Christ. We hear the word sung and spoken and respond with song and prayer. We take the piece of bread broken for us and dip it in the wine as we receive physical nourishment on a journey that doesn’t stop at the cross. Along the way, we share our own personal stories of faith, discovering where our unique journeys might overlap. And, we realize that no matter the direction we face or what obstacle we see, we make the road by walking and our task is merely to follow.
We hope you will join us on this Lenten journey as together we walk on the path that has been and is still being revealed to us in Christ.
Wednesday, Feb. 10, 12:00 noon and 6:30 p.m.
Start the season with Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent, a 40-day period of prayer and fasting set aside as a preparation for Easter. It gets its name from the practice of placing ashes on people’s foreheads both as a reminder of our own human mortality and as a sign of repentance to God. The evening service will be a bilingual worship experience including readings in both English and Spanish as well as communion and the imposition of ashes. Join the event on Facebook.
Wednesdays, 12:00 noon and 6:30 p.m.
Join Midweek Lenten Worship starting Feb. 17
