We are celebrating 35 years of Christ the King Foundation tomorrow, February 16. This organization did not just take place over night. Many meetings on what it was to be and how to operate the foundation. You could draw an analogy to our founding father of our US Constitution that they had the foresight to look to the future on what would be sustainable. The Foundation is a 503-C charity. This is a separate organization from the church. The founders wanted it that way as to not interfere with the church but to be able to help fund three separate areas—church, community, and global. There are stringent rules governing the operation and must be reported to the State of Minnesota.
The CtK Foundation was started with donations of $15,000 and the first grant was given in 1991. It was for $1,000 to help fund the alternative service. Because of the generous donations and investments over the years, the Foundation has grown. This past year, the Foundation gave out a total of $104,714.00. Global--$21,850.00, Community--$32,864.00, and to the Church--$50,000.00. This represents 5% of the total amount in the foundation. If you have not done so, stop and look at the 3 trees in the narthex for the grants given over the years by CtK Foundation.
Please come to the salt presentation on Sunday and learn more about the past, present, and how you can help the foundation in the future.
