Sunday, Pastor Sarah Anderson will be installed as our Associate Pastor! While we all celebrate her installation for a variety of reasons, I celebrate as her colleague. For more than 2 years, I have been blessed to get to know her and her numerous pastoral gifts and talents. At the top of the list for me is that in her I have a trustworthy, generous, and gifted colleague, with whom we share transparent communication, a hopeful spirit and joy in our calling. Ministry is lively when Jesus grants and grounds us in those capacities. I am thankful!

Tomorrow, Pastor Sarah will respond to several questions about her role as pastor here by saying, “I do, and I ask God to help and guide me.” An “Installation Sunday” is also a marvelous time for each member of this community to pay attention to our own callings in the world and to Christ the King Lutheran Church’s calling in the world. So today, I invite you to respond to these questions:

Do you intend to continue in the promises God makes with you:

-to live among God’s people?

-to hear the word of God and come to the Table and share the Lord’s Supper?

-to share the good news of Jesus by how you act and what you say?

-to serve everyone, regardless of who they are, following how Jesus lives?

-to strive for justice and peace close to home and across the globe?

May God’s Holy Spirit continue to help us show up and figure out (again and again) how this specifically looks in our households, our workplaces, our neighborhood, our church. Thanks be to God! See you tomorrow at worship!

Peace and joy,

Pastor Sonja
