The season of Lent offers us moments for personal and collective reflection as we journey together in faith. This year’s theme – “Lenten Ripples of Faith: Living Into our Core Values” – invites us to explore how every act of faith has the power to create a ripple effect, extending beyond the walls of Christ the King to create greater impact and transformation in our community and in the world.
This is pretty amazing when you consider it fully. Every decision and every interaction has the power to open hearts, build bridges and spread God’s love to change lives.
Amidst busy days, hectic schedules and competing priorities, we are prompted to pause and examine how we align to what God is calling us to do as we plan for the future at CtK. Are there relationships that need tending? Are there activities that need more or less of our attention? Are there ideas brewing that need our courage and faith? Are there perceptions we need to challenge or lean into to enable more growth, connection and belonging?
Grounded in our Core Values, the Lenten devotional journals – a version for adults and for families – are available to guide you in reflection and prayer throughout this season. If you haven’t already done so, you can download the devotional online or pick one up at the church welcome desk. You are invited to consider how our Core Values come to life in the way we live, serve and venture forward together.
Embrace All God’s Children (Galatians 3:28): Is there someone in your life to whom you can extend Christ’s welcome?’
Joyful Generosity (2 Corinthians 9:7): Is there a new way you feel God is calling you to live more generously?
Side by Side in Service (Micah 6:8): What opportunities exist in daily life to walk alongside a neighbor in kindness, justice and humility?
Living Lightly in God’s Creation (Romans 8:22-23): What small acts enable you to demonstrate God’s love for all creation?
Fostering Faith (Deuteronomy 6:5-7): How are you personally growing in your faith by loving God and how can this faithfulness extend to others?
Christ-centered Worship (Psalm 150:6): In what ways can praising God show up in your daily routine and rituals?
Reflecting on how our Core Values guide the way we live and serve is especially meaningful this Lenten season as we prepare for our ministry campaign and imagine how Christ the King will evolve and grow. This effort has been shaped by many who have participated in prayerful discussions and the cottage meetings last fall. The ministry campaign challenges us to envision the growth and impact of Christ the King in the future and calls us to step boldly into new ideas together. Just like ripples in water, our faithful actions for the ministry campaign extend beyond the walls of Christ the King to create a community where all are known, cared for and can grow in faith and community.
You are invited to join this time of reflection and preparation, bringing your unique gifts and ideas to realize the transformative power of God’s love at Christ the King and beyond.
